I feel called to write something about what happened during my sabbatical from Facebook this Autumn, the insights, and the way forward as a movement. Let’s begin a little further back in 2006.

After over 12 years of sincere, personal inquiry, study and a spiritual awakening, in 2006 I had the revelation that I had something very profound to share with the world. What I had to share was a profound, timeless, spiritual truth that had been expressed by others in different ways and forms through out the ages.

And yet, the revelation was that I had a new unique way of embodying and expressing this timeless realization of spiritual liberation for the modern world I was living in.

I had no significant amount money. I didn’t know anyone of influence. I had no status or prestige. I had no license, no degree, no certificate, no lineage, part of no institution, no organized religion or philosophy, no validation from any authority or authority system.

I was completely unknown to the spiritual world and was very young at the time to be considered a “spiritual teacher”, and yet I knew I had something very powerful and unique to share that would forever shift human consciousness, and if I just started sharing it, the right people at the right time would recognize it and aid me in whatever ways were necessary in the moment to support the dissemination of the message.

After walking in the rain all night one evening..

I decided to take a huge leap of faith…

I left my job, left my home, and left most of my material possessions. I dedicated myself to living this mission full-time, completely trusting day by day, moment by moment in Spirit to guide me.

This was a huge turning point in my life, and the day I started what I call “living in alignment”. The previous duality of my time between working for money half the day at a job I hated and following my sense of passion and purpose the other half of the day was transcended.

I was now spending my whole day sharing my greatest gifts and talents with the world, living with meaning and purpose and inspiration, in alignment with Spirit, following the deepest call of my heart, for the highest benefit of all beings, and generating my income from doing so. It was the beginning of a new calling and a new life, and I had answered the call. (This is what I want for everyone.)

After living relatively quietly and away from the world, for over ten years as a reclusive spiritual seeker, the question was where to begin as a teacher?

Online social networking, seemed like a good way to begin. I opened up a simple profile on Myspace with the name “Brian” and began to share the spiritual truths I realized to a tiny handful of friends in the form of poetry and essays.

If I saw someone that I felt would resonate with what I had to share, I would send them a friend request.

Others who resonated with what I was sharing would send me a friend request and share my posts and essays with their friends. As I realized there were lots of “Brian’s on Myspace, one day I non-chalantly changed my profile name to “Brian The Big Glow”.

Within a couple years, that handful of friends grew to over five thousand friends on Myspace I was sharing with.

By September of 2011, I was sharing my posts with well over two-hundred thousand people daily on Facebook alone, not mention Twitter, Ning, Myspace etc.

There were now retreats, a book, workshops, personal life coaching sessions with clients around the world, an online community etc., all under the label, ‘The Big Glow’.

My poem Love is the New Religion/The Spiritual Conspiracy, from the book The Big Glow, had become a viral sensation and was being shared all around the world via the internet.

In late September of 2011, I became very sick. I was forced to cancel my retreat in Italy and knew it was a sign to slow down and reflect. I stopped posting on Facebook, taking a sabbatical, and spent a lot of time by myself meditating in the desert, underneath the blue sky in the afternoon and the twinkling stars at night.

Amidst this illness, I felt a quiet spaciousness within, a stillness that is indescribable.

There was truly a sense that the person named ‘Brian Piergrossi’ had disappeared and this infinite silence was my eternal nature and name. Absolutely nothing needed to be achieved or accomplished in the peaceful infinite depth of the silence.. only God remained.. and yet I could feel something new wanted to come through from this space into the world of form.

I could feel that one phase was ending and another beginning for me both personally and professionally. It was time to listen close and hear what that phase was.

For several weeks, I was quiet and I listened.

And after 5 years Phase II begins ….

In zen it is said: “When the finger is pointing at the moon, why do you concentrate on the finger?”

As I began to reach more of a mass audience over the last couple of years something changed. I gradually found more people focusing on the messenger rather than the message, more interested in the teacher, and the celebritization and image making of me, rather than the teaching itself.

There was a level of sincerity and responsibility in many that I found lacking. It was easier to be enamored with the messenger than to actually apply the message to your own life and truly step into the unknown.

Upon reflection over the last couple months, I take my share of responsibility for this in two ways:

The first reason is I was too passive in allowing it to happen.

The second reason is I haven’t done a good enough job of articulating the actual teaching I am sharing.

Both of the aspects are shifting now.

Sincerity, Responsibility and Integration

My intention of bringing the focus onto the teaching and not the teacher is not an abdication of my responsibility as a leader. It is actually stepping more fully into leadership by being more active and assertive in guiding clients and students where to place their attention for their highest benefit and spiritual growth on a personal and planetary level.

My intention of bringing the focus on to the message and not the messenger is not because I do not feel I am great or worthy. I am greater and more worthy than anything you can imagine. The thing is, you are too! This is the point! This teaching is inviting you to discover that truth for yourself, realize it, take responsibility for it, own it and live from it.

I am now inviting you to discover, integrate, and live from, that realization in your daily life, in all your relations, and in every aspect of your life.

Through my words, my online posts, my presence, my energy, my book, my retreats, I have done a great job of opening people’s hearts and minds wide open. I’ve opened thousands of people to something much larger and more infinite than the ‘I’ they thought they were.

I have not done a good enough job yet of providing the pointers to integrate this awakening of consciousness to one’s true spiritual essence so that it permeates and integrates itself in every aspect of the quality of one’s life: shifts in the body, mind, emotional field, relationships, careers, finances, family, community, culture and environment etc.

It affects the quality of every aspect of your life, anchoring you in the essence of who you really are. binging a new level of inner peace, inner freedom, love, creativity, integrity, empowerment and consciousness for yourself and the world.

Without the teaching tolls for the integration where do you go with this opening? What I discovered is one merely clings to the person, messenger and teacher who you think gave this awakening to you… Me… without taking the radical responsibility to live from this place yourself.

Radical Responsibility and Radiant Integrity

I am now asking you to step your game up to a new level of responsibility and integrity. I will be asking the same of myself each day.

Today marks the beginning of phase two, a new depth to this teaching, and calling for greater sincerity, radical responsibility and radiant integrity.

In 2012….

In 2012, I am asking for a new level of sincerity, and new level of responsibility and integrity for engaging with a new spiritual teaching I will be disseminating for the modern times we are in, for a new generation.

I will now be teaching at a whole new level of depth, intelligence, sincerity, and integration. (while still retaining a healthy dose of fun and play).

Though still valuable, most of the depth of I am speaking about can not be gained through Facebook posts which can open you to something larger than yourself but does not provide the space for deep, ongoing integration.

This true depth will be offered, in 2012, in the form of new group teleclasses I will be leading and teaching on a range of subjects, through personal life coaching and counseling sessions worldwide via telephone and skype, a new book, a new series of weekend retreats, as well as our free, online teaching/learning Big Glow community and more.

We are crafting a new progressive, evolving, international teaching/learning spiritual community.

The paradox is this:  We are at the forefront of creating a new dimension of reality while at the same realizing there is no problem and everything is OK just as it IS.

The Big Glow Faculty of Teachers

In 2012, this integral spiritual teaching will also be provided through the new Big Glow Faculty of Teachers. A collection of my favorite teachers from around the world, who will be sharing offerings in wellness and self-realization through modaltities such as yoga, music, finances, business, relationships, tantric sexuality, parenting, law of attraction, spirituality, psychology, nutrition, exercise, dance, creativity, bodywork, healing, meditation, community, breathwork, communication skills, sustainable building, self-actualization and much more…

In the Big Glow teaching, all of these modalities are grounded in the essence of presence, Being, consciousness and Spirit to realize and live from your pure essence and potential in each and every moment, which really means Being fully present in this moment, the foundation to what I call whole-some living.

In these times of great transition and awakening, I feel honored and blessed to be a source of support for you on your life’s path
