We meet in a weekly Zoom call for approximately 60 minutes.

The Spring season is a 16-meeting commitment, May 21 – Sept. 3.

We meet Thursday evenings at 6 PM EST.

It’s OK if you can’t attend every single meeting.

What are the meetings like?

The meetings are held sacred as a life-enhancing priority. We begin promptly at the specified time regardless of who is present.

The meetings are fun, enriching, encouraging, supportive, focused, and beneficial to each individual and the group as a whole.

Each member shares ideas, support, information, and feedback honestly and vulnerably in ways that help advance individual and group goals.

All sessions are confidential. Nothing that transpires is shared publicly.

• Check-ins: How are you feeling right now in your mind, heart, spirit, and body?

• Each member reviews their intentions since the last meeting and whether they have accomplished their weekly goals outwardly and/or realized inwardly.

• Open forum where each member can ask for feedback on challenges, points of confusion, celebrate victories, and request support.

• Brian offers coaching and mentoring support, followed at times by suggested homework.

• Each member shares intentions/goals for the following week.

• Closing.

Pain, Purpose, Sacrifice, and Love

What is your purpose?

Last night, in my view, was one of the best meetings in the twenty-one seasons leading my men’s mastermind group.

The reliable structure was the same. The meeting began with each man checking in on how they are feeling in this moment right now.

I then moved forward to holding each member accountable for the actions he intended to accomplish this week.

We then moved to the open forum where each man is free to bring forward anything they are inquiring into.

Any challenges, difficulties, or points of confusion from the past week they would like reflection on from the rest of the group.

After a period of silence, the conversation quickly began to deepen in profound power and life-changing wisdom.

A courageous private and confidential conversation emerged about God, surrender, and trust, personal loss and pain, negative self-talk, the larger meaning in our lives, and what truly brings well-being and fulfillment.

Here is where the dialogue eventually landed:

Pain without purpose is suffering.

Pain with purpose is sacrifice.

Sacrifice is love.

Learning to love is the meaning of life.

Each man then shared his intentions and goals for the upcoming week, and we closed out the meeting in gratitude.

It’s unusual for a group of men in our society to have an intentional conversation about how to love.

And yet being consistently committed to learning how to love is the most mature masculine act there is. It requires bravery, strength, integrity, and sacrifice.

It’s only when a man’s highest intention is being of service to others that he is grounded in his most fulfilling purpose.

If You Want Something, Ask For It

So many people I know are in drastic need of help right now yet unable to ask for it.

I get it. I used to be like that also. I remember clearly the turning point.

It was close to twenty-five years ago. It was twilight in the forest. Many of the best moments of my life have happened in the twilight of the forest.

It was summertime. She and I were engaged in a deep and intimate, heartfelt conversation as the air grew cooler, the crickets began to sing and the day slowly turned into night. I was telling this wise woman, with raw vulnerability, the things I wanted in my life, my passions, my inspirations, my desires, the deepest callings of my heart.

She looked at me with a deep presence and said something that changed the course of my life.

“If you want something, ask for it.”

It was a simple yet life-changing message I was open, available for, and ready to hear.

It struck me to my core, hitting me in a deep way that sent reverberations up and down my spine. It changed the direction of my life.

There’s a widespread perception I used to share that asking for help is a sign of failure, and that highly successful people don’t need to ask for help.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The most successful people are the ones who have asked for and received the most support of all. In some cases, dozens or even hundreds of people whose job it is to support them in the areas of nutrition, physical fitness, mental and emotional health, spiritual practice/guidance, relationship counsel, business and financial consultants, etc.

The reason is that these people have a high degree of self-worth and self-love and are able to envision a brighter future. They are able to consistently invest their time, money and energy in committed devotion to a higher version of themselves, and their life.

Many people never ask for help not because they do not need it, but because fear, pride, shame, or old conditioning convinces them they have to do it alone. Yet asking for help is the very doorway through which a new life begins to blossom.

If you want something, ask for it.

You’re worth it.

From Rebellion to Obedience: The Two Levels of Freedom

I remember when I was eighteen years old I bought my first book at the Berkshire Mall in Pennsylvania after seeing a late-night infomercial from Tony Robbins.

It was summertime and I would read it in the backyard in the afternoon sun.

There was an exercise in the book that asked me to prioritize my values in order to become more self-aware of what’s important to me.

The answer was clear. My number one value, by far, was freedom.

I didn’t want anyone telling me what to do or how to do it. I would henceforth make my own rules and create my own life.

I was convinced I had the freedom to create my own reality and I would rebel against any system that tried to control me.

The narrative of a heroic rebel fighting for individual rights is the foundational basis of American culture: our novels, our movies, our history books.

Each person with the freedom to pursue their own individual happiness.

I would be a freedom fighter. I would rebel against any system trying to oppress my individual freedom.

I rebelled against the government, the school system, the religious institutions, the corporations, and most essentially, my own parents.

Why follow any of these institutions or listen to what they say? I saw them all as filled with corruption and hypocrisy. I would follow whatever was true inside me, and liberate myself from The Machine.

Then something quite amazing and perhaps unexpected happened.

Through a long series of profound spiritual experiences, soul-searching, psychological and theological study, a transformation slowly began to take root.

I encountered and deepened in relationship with a supreme, all-knowing, all-loving intelligence infinitely greater than myself.

In other words, I found God through the teachings, and the transmission, of Christ.

For the first time in my life, I found an absolute authority I could fully trust and wanted to give my obedience to.

Why should I follow someone like Deepak Chopra when I can follow Christ? It’s not much of a comparison.

Here’s the amazing paradox.

I discovered in this obedience to God lies a much greater and more profound freedom than I ever had before.

The mind becomes free from needing to figure it all out, from obsessively trying to control external circumstances, from old patterns of anxiety and fear.

The heart opens in a state of effortless forgiveness and loving compassion.

The nervous system resets. The physiology of the entire body drops into a profound place of deep safety, rest, and rejuvenation.

There’s a sense of becoming as scripture calls it, ‘a new creation’ deeply at home in the Now, with full trust in an unfolding plan that cannot be, and doesn’t need to be, comprehended by the mind.

Every challenge I face is an opportunity to continue to deepen that trust and faith in relationship with God.

In the same way that we can look for love in all the wrong places we can look for freedom in all the wrong places too.

The greatest freedom doesn’t come from having lots of choices. The greatest freedom actually comes from having no choice at all.

What Are You Thinking About?

An ongoing conversation my friend Michael Parisi & I have is around the question: What is the mind of Christ?

Or what is the mind of God?

I’ve been exclusively reading St. John of the Cross and finding great value in his ancient writings.

What’s becoming increasingly clear to me is that the overwhelming majority of our socially / culturally conditioned thoughts are a complete waste of time.

They do not lead us into a harmonious dance of trust with the mind of our Creator.

They are a waste of energy at best, a destructive pattern toward ourselves and others at worst.

The more one’s mind steps into communion with God, the more this excessive thinking—

*worry

*fear

*anxiety

*doubts

*addictions

*resentments

*jealousy

*revenge

*vanity

*hedonistic pursuits

starts to fade away as strength, confidence, and faith grow into the simple and repeated act of fully surrendering to God’s will, moment by moment.

This does not actually require more knowing. It requires an absolute unknowing. A process of subtraction.

With the continued emptying of the mind and the heart, we become much more open and available for God’s presence to fill us and illuminate us.

My sense is that, as we become increasingly purified on this path, the amount of overall content bouncing around in our head can be reduced by probably 75% to 80%.

Figures like Eckhart Tolle, Thich Nhat Hanh, & others who teach the value of stilling the mind are correct.

Yet, here’s the important thing: You can never still the mind by trying to do it for your own egoic benefit & gratification. It just creates more internal noise.

It happens as a byproduct of fully giving your life to God (the loving presence at the heart of all creation).

I believe this is what it means when Christ teaches us to be ‘poor in spirit.’

After an extended period of disorientation & now reorientation, I have found a most rooted and beautiful home for myself in the rich tradition of contemplative Christianity.

Particularly the Catholic / Orthodox tradition with its long list of great saints and absolute powerhouse mystics to draw pristine wisdom from.

The interesting thing is very few of the clients I work with have been, or are, Christian.

My clients have always spanned every category: ‘spiritual, but not religious,’ Yogis, New Age, Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Pagan, Atheist.

No one has ever been asked to change who they are.

Everyone is, however, asked to consider the same question.

What are you thinking about each day?

If you look closely, the odds are most of what you’re thinking about is an unhealthy waste of time & energy.

The good news is, through clear intention, dedicated, committed practice, self-inquiry, discipline, grit, and grace, that can and will change.

I can attest to that from my own experience and the lives of those I’ve worked with.

Why a Thriving Life Is the Enemy of Social Media Companies

A full day of personal sessions today with clients in Virginia, New York, Texas & North Carolina.

I love getting deep under the hood of someone’s mind over an extended period of time, working to uncover the patterns that are no longer serving them, and watching breakthroughs manifest in their life in doing so.

It feels like the work God has truly called me to, and I’m so deeply grateful for that.

It’s become increasingly clear to me what I’m not called to do is spend lots of time on social media.

Why do I say that?

The business model of social media platforms is to maximize profit by maximizing your time and engagement—because your attention is what’s sold to advertisers and used for data-driven targeting.

Simply put: the goal of social media is to make you addicted to social media, by any means necessary.

The algorithm has discovered these are the primary emotional levers that get people hooked on social media:

Rage

Fear

Insecurity

Anger

Anxiety

Worry

Jealousy (FOMO)

Lust

I’ve watched social media addiction make so many people I know overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, lost in information silos, mentally inflexible, turn against their own family and friends for ideological/political reasons, and increasingly detached from reality.

As the saying goes, these people need to “touch grass.”

But here’s the thing to understand.

If the goal of social media is to make you addicted to social media, then who is the enemy of social media companies?

Anything and anyone who takes your time and attention away from social media.

The enemy of social media companies is your life.

Your spouse (or potential spouse)

Your children

Your friends

Your gym

Your church (or potential church)

Your state park

Your books

Your inner silence

Your contemplation/prayer time

The greatest enemy of social media companies is you living a happy and healthy life.

In an age of such mass and intentional distraction, I help people stay focused on the key focal points that foster a truly meaningful life.

As St. Irenaeus once said: The glory of God is a man fully alive.

Cultivating the elite focus and accountability to transcend today’s distractions is the latent superpower we must unlock for us to thrive.

We are living through a time of major transition and uncertainty. For many people it can feel confusing, at times even overwhelming.

Have you noticed this as well?

Many of the people who eventually reach out to work with me are already successful by most external measures. Yet internally they are beginning to sense that something deeper is missing — meaning, presence, fulfillment. A lack of alignment between the life they have built and the life they feel called to live.

About Me

My Father Turns Eighty

We’re in Pennsylvania, and the whole family has gathered to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday.

My father has lived in the same city his whole life.

He’s been married to the same woman his whole life.

He worked at the same job for close to thirty years until he was laid off.

He’s had the same friends and gone to the same church every Sunday for decades.

He’s walked with the same friends at the same mall, at the same time, six days a week, for years.

One time, my family played a game. We went around the circle, and everyone had a chance to answer the following question:

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

Everyone took turns harnessing the far reaches of their imagination to mention all kinds of exotic, luxurious, spectacular locations.

The question finally came around to my father, who said: “Berks County, Pennsylvania. Best place in the world.” The place he was born and lived his whole life.

Every time I ask my dad if he’s happy, including today, he immediately says yes.

When I work with clients, I work both on the external level and on the internal level.

Some clients need to make major external changes. End relationships. Change jobs or start a new business. Move to a new place they’ve always dreamed of living. Make big lifestyle changes. Break addictive habits.

And sometimes all that’s required is a change of perspective—finding the gratitude and appreciation for what one already has and what has been there all along.

The simple beauty of being alive is always here and now if we’re present enough to notice.

The way the big glow of the sun gently rises over the trees, the flowers smile with the new dawn, and the birds gently sing in the morning twilight.

The Last Couple Months…

There are so many things I want to write to you about, and someday I will.

I miss taking time to write. It’s one of my gifts and one of my joys. So I’ll be getting back to that soon.

For me, writing is like taking the time to observe, with awe and wonder, the handiwork of God, then jotting down what I observe in words to share with friends, known and unknown.

Heaven is a deeper dimension of Now that we are each invited to participate in.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve spent little to no time on social media, and I expect that trend to continue for the rest of the year, and probably longer.

Most of my quality time over the past couple of months has gone to the key areas that bring the greatest fulfillment to my distinct calling in this world, in this new chapter of my life:

• Being the best husband I can be.

• Being the best father I can be. (I’m loving seeing this world again for the first time through the eyes of my now almost two-year-old.)

• Being dedicated to supporting my clients and their continued positive transformation in the key areas of their lives.

• Being devoted to deepening my communion with God.

I’m aware there are all kinds of crazy, scary, anxiety-provoking things happening on many fronts in the news right now. My prayers go out to all those who are being affected.

And I also assure you, there’s a quiet, utterly still, and beautiful place of profound peace and freedom deep down inside each and every one of us, where there’s no news at all.

The Unlikely Hero I Met Today. 21st Season of my Men’s Mastermind Starts Tomorrow.

My wife Annie, my son Joah, and I are on what’s become our annual winter road trip to Florida to see family, friends, sunshine, and beaches.

Today I quickly ran into a pharmacy in Pooler, Georgia, to run an errand.

I was awestruck by the cashier. A nondescript, middle-aged, dark-haired woman with glasses. There was nothing extraordinary about her in physical appearance.

However, there was something extraordinary about her soul.

What was amazing was the kindness, care, presence, and all-around cheerfulness with which she dealt with each person in line, including me.

Her intention was clearly to brighten each person’s day who came to her counter.

It was like watching a priest, a shaman, a great alchemist, a supreme healer at work, in the most unlikely of places!

I could feel her silently praying over each person as a conduit for God’s love, while on the surface level she asked someone how they were doing, chatted about the weather, complimented them on their outfit, wished them a great day.

I left that cash register physically transformed. Lighter. Brighter. Unburdened by anything that stands in opposition to the Truth. She transmitted the Big Glow.

A reminder you don’t need to be a prime minister, a CEO, or a movie star to make a positive difference in the world.

You can be a cashier at a pharmacy in Pooler, Georgia.

You can do it right wherever you are. No matter how insignificant, or unimportant it may seem.

In fact, there’s nowhere else to do it.

This is the time. Right here and now.

This group is limited to only 10 people to maintain optimal intimacy and cohesion.

We meet in a weekly Zoom call for approximately 60 minutes

The Fall season is a 16 session commitment Jan 15th - Apr 30th.

We meet Thursday evenings @ 6pm est.

It’s ok if you can’t attend every single meeting

What are the meetings like?

The meetings are held sacred as a life-enhancing priority and will begin promptly at the specified time regardless of who is present.

The meetings are upbeat, enriching, fun, encouraging, supportive, focused, and beneficial to each individual and the group as a whole.

Each member shares honestly, and vulnerably, ideas, support, information, feedback, and anything else that will help advance the individual and group goals.

All sessions are confidential and nothing that transpires will be shared publicly.

What is the Format?

There are the Following Stages to Each Meeting:

*Check-ins: How are you feeling right now in your mind, your heart, your spirit, your body?

*We will review what has been positively achieved outwardly, and/or realized inwardly since the last meeting.

*We will also share any problems, or setbacks, experienced since the last meeting and ask for whatever support is requested.

*Brian will offer the group coaching & mentoring support followed, at times, by suggested homework.

*Each member will share their intentions/goals for the following week.

*Goodbye

Definitely! There is a private messaging thread to stay in touch, update and support each other on homework, insights, and accountability. between sessions. This is, in fact, where a lot of the best stuff transpires!

New Year, New You, Where Are the Male Role Models?

While they differ on the specifics, all religions agree on the following: The state of your soul and your consciousness at the time of your death is a determining factor on where you go next.

When we think of the word 'death' we, of course, think of our transition from physical death to the afterlife.

However, there are many big deaths and rebirths throughout the course of our human life as well, where the state of our consciousness at the time of transition is fundamental to what comes next.

Instead of drinking and drugging yourself unconscious amidst terrible music, what if New Year's was actually considered to be a sacred and holy time of transition?

A time to turn off the phone and the TV. A time to tune into your breath. A time to pray and meditate. A time commune with God's creation, as you engage in deep conversation,

around the fireplace, with fellow souls on the path.

What if it was a time to prepare to sanctify your soul for the New Year? A time to get quiet and listen for the intentions that are being called forth over the next 12 months.

A time to ask to be held accountable to stepping into the highest and best version of yourself this coming year.

We’re Gonna Let it Shine! The History of the New Year’s Retreat

It started off just me and my son Gio. Year after year, we would go to a little lake together in Pennsylvania, around 11:30pm, Without a soul in sight except for us.

We would verbalize our New Year's intentions to each other on the shore of the lake underneath the spacious stillness of a thousand stars.

Then, just before midnight, would bring in the New Years in Silence.

We would have all kinds of powerful spiritual experiences and deep insights during that time. We would see shooting stars, comets.. even UFOs one year!

It felt like relaxing into a deeper dimension of reality—one in which the span of what’s possible widened considerably, allowing the coming year to unfold from the seeds planted at that depth.

This ritual was so much more of a powerful way to bring in the New Years than the mindless drinking and drugging so much of the rest world was doing, that I felt deeply called to share it with others.

In 2017 for the first time I did, and that was the first ever Big Glow New Year's Retreat.

I've scheduled a New Year's Retreat every year ever since, bringing in New Year's with hundreds of people over that time.

A Prediction

There will come a time in the next one to two generations, due to AI advancement, where everything in the online world will become so fake yet indistinguishable from reality that no one will be able to tell the difference anymore.

Everything online will eventually be presumed to be fiction and consumed as fiction.

The only possible way anymore to be sure that one is having an authentic and genuine, unmediated, unedited experience with another will be offline, face-to-face interactions.

Humanity will break into three different directions.

1) A portion of the population will lose themselves in complete, 24/7 addiction to the fictional online world, losing touch with reality altogether (think The Matrix).

These people will literally need to be given IVs to stay alive, as they mindlessly stare at their screens.

They will no longer have any compulsion to care for their own physical bodies, as their energy is mined to feed the Machine.

2) A second portion of the population will use the online world as an occasional form of indulgence in fantasy and imagination, while still giving their primary attention to genuine human interactions—similar to the way people currently may watch a few movies a week or a TV series for fictional entertainment.

3) The third portion of the population will be creating communities which consciously and intentionally eliminate the internet, television, and smartphones altogether, in favor of deeper communion with each other, Nature, and God.

In these communities, the screen will be eschewed for face-to-face conversations, making music together, cooking and eating meals together, praying and meditating together, dancing together, building aesthetically beautiful architecture and gardens together.

Sharing sacred time in places of immense natural beauty and inspiration will be the focus. (Think Amish but cooler & having lots more fun 🤩)
