The Two Paths to Optimal Living
When I first started coaching people over twenty years ago, I would treat everyone as equal and the same in accordance with my post-modern university education and liberal sensibilities.
Through trial and error, with many individuals, I learned that was a big mistake.
I had to learn instead to face the timeless truth that there are two distinct paths to the full actualization of one’s life.
The masculine path and the feminine path.
These are the two opposing yet synergistically complementary paths of creation. The design is actually quite beautiful.
However, in our current world, we often fail to appreciate the value in the inherent design of these two distinct modes of being.
Trying to continually force a feminine path on a masculine man is destructive to his strength, confidence, inner compass and inspired direction, often leading to nihilistic apathy, superficial hedonism, and addictive coping patterns.
Trying to continually force a masculine path on a feminine woman creates chronic stress and anxiety, unconscious resentment, disconnection from her body, often leading to chronic physical pain and health disorders.
A masculine man needs something very different than a feminine woman needs to unlock his deepest potential.
He needs to be consistently challenged to grow in his strength.
He needs adversity to build his character.
He needs routine accountability to grow in integrity.
He needs to foster an inner-discipline to cultivate his gifts.
He needs clarity of purpose to harness his vitality and deepest life-force.
The mature man learns to find his highest purpose in self-sacrificing love.
He dedicates his time and energy to actualize his body, his mind and his emotional intelligence to be a stronger vessel of love and service to his family, his community, and his world.
He learns over time to surrender his personal will to God’s will so his life may be a benefit and a blessing to others.
